Football Recap: Willmar Takes a Loss

While it was all tied up 14-14 at halftime, Willmar was not quite Rocori's equal in the second half on Friday. They and the Spartans were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 21-20 defeat. The loss continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Spartans: they've now lost three in a row.

Willmar's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Rocori, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Willmar will square off against Hutchinson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cardinals will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 28.25 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Rocori, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Detroit Lakes at 7:00 p.m. The Lakers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
