Softball Recap: Pine Creek's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Pine Creek dropped down to 11-3 on Thursday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Pueblo West Cyclones by a score of 3-2. The match marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Kyleigh Croyle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Abigail *Abby* Stenerson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

As for Pueblo West, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games.

On Pueblo West's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Kassidy Donley gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Acelyn Duran, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. Bella Gregory also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Coming up, Pueblo West will head out to challenge Pueblo County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Pine Creek will be paying especially close attention to the Cyclones' contest: after the Cyclones face off against the Hornets, they'll take on Pine Creek again at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
