Softball Recap: Burke Takes a Loss

Burke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Benson Bunnies. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bunnies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.

Cece Hultman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and five unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Liliana Hansen made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Lainey Prisbelle was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Burke's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Benson, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-17 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Burke will face off against Bryan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Benson, they will square off against Westview on Thursday. The Bunnies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
