Recap: Athens Wildcats vs. Canton Warriors
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northeast Bradford, the Athens Wildcats were happy to have found some success on Monday. They secured a 36-32 W over Canton. That's another feather in the cap for Athens, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the loss, Canton saw an underclassman step up: Cailyn Van Noy scored 17 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Van Noy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daveian Crowley, who scored four points along with 15 rebounds.
Athens' win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Canton, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-10.
Athens will take on Sayre at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sayre comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Canton, they will be playing at home against Northeast Bradford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northeast Bradford has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 242 points over their last four contests.
