Softball Recap: Coffee Trojans vs. Lanier County Bulldogs

Coffee fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lanier County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 5-3. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Maggie Brown spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits and racked up 17 Ks.

On the hitting side, Allie Pridgen and Ella Edge did some serious damage despite the final result: Pridgen went 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Edge went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kanlee Douglas, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Coffee's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lanier County, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Coffee will challenge Brantley County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lanier County, they will face off against Brooks County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
