Baseball Recap: Fullington Academy Takes a Loss

Fullington Academy extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 2-15 in the process. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grace Christian Academy Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-0 loss on Tuesday.

Garlan Godfrey was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Hendrickson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

As for Grace Christian Academy, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games.

On Grace Christian Academy's side, the team relied heavily on Noah Smith, who went 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits Smith has posted since back in March. Oathen Atkinson also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Looking ahead, Fullington Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Terrell Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Grace Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Bainbridge at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
