Basketball Recap: Leigh Longhorns vs. Piedmont Hills Pirates
The Leigh Longhorns won the last time they faced the Piedmont Hills Pirates, and things went their way on Thursday too. Leigh walked away with a 53-44 victory over the Pirates. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Leigh.
Leigh got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Catalina Williams out in front who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Williams grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Emily Chen, who scored six points along with two steals.
Leigh's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-12. As for Piedmont Hills, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
Leigh will be playing in front of their home fans against the Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Piedmont Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Lincoln's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Pirates have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
