Recap: Coastal Academy Stingrays vs. Escondido Adventist Academy Hawks
The Coastal Academy Stingrays lost against the Escondido Adventist Academy Hawks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Coastal Academy suffered a rough 48-23 loss at the hands of Escondido Adventist Academy. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coastal Academy in their matchups with Escondido Adventist Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Several Stingrays players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was London Afalava, who scored four points along with 13 rebounds and two steals. Afalava is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Emily Enger was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two blocks.
Coastal Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Escondido Adventist Academy, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coastal Academy will take on Guajome Park Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Guajome Park Academy has insisted on making their lasteight contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 0-8 during that stretch of close contests. As for Escondido Adventist Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Foothills Christian at 5:00 p.m. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Escondido Adventist Academy: 27.7, Foothills Christian: 29.7) so any points scored will be well earned.
