Softball Recap: Mitchell County Takes a Loss

Mitchell County extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Monday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Turner County Titans, falling 31-17. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-5 back in August.

As for Turner County, with the win, they broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Turner County's part, Jazalynn Lewis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lewis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those two hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Aalunah Edwards was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Azaria McKinney, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell County will take on Early County at 5:30 p.m. on the 17th. As for Turner County, they will face off against Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
