Basketball Game Preview: Newark Memorial Cougars vs. Foothill Falcons

The Newark Memorial Cougars and the Foothill Falcons will face off at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Newark Memorial picked up another tournament win on Friday. They blew past Terra Linda 49-25. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 24 points or more this season.

Newark Memorial relied on the efforts of Mai Weeks, who posted 16 points, and Angelina Baca, who had 13 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foothill). They ended the year with a bang, routing Santa Clara 48-23 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Falcons have posted since January 12th.

Newark Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-5.

Newark Memorial took a serious blow against Foothill when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 70-23. Can Newark Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
