It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fairmont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Milford Eagles 6-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Firebirds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Joey Lanning was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ashton Adams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Fairmont's win bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Milford, they dropped their record down to 13-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Fairmont will welcome West Clermont at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Firebirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Milford, they will head out to square off against St. Xavier at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
