It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Fairmont ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Milford Eagles 6-5. The victory was some much needed relief for the Firebirds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Joey Lanning was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Ashton Adams, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Fairmont's win bumped their record up to 11-16. As for Milford, they dropped their record down to 13-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
