Softball Game Preview: Sioux Central Rebels vs. Newell-Fonda Mustangs

The Sioux Central Rebels will head out to challenge the Newell-Fonda Mustangs on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sioux Central's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. Everything went their way against Okoboji as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Pioneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Le Mars typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Newell-Fonda proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 9-1 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Sioux Central pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Newell-Fonda, their win bumped their record up to 18-8.

Sioux Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Newell-Fonda in their previous meeting back in June of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
