Basketball Game Preview: Arroyo Knights vs. Gabrielino Eagles

Arroyo hasn't had much luck against Gabrielino recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Arroyo Knights will host the Gabrielino Eagles at 5:00 p.m.

Arroyo is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against South El Monte on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Arroyo came up short against South El Monte, falling 44-21.

Meanwhile, Gabrielino beat South El Monte 33-26 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Gabrielino.

Arroyo better keep an eye on Katelyn Chung. She was instrumental in Gabrielino's win, putting up 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Chung has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shannon Yan, who posted five points and three steals.

Gabrielino is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 17.8 points per game. As for Arroyo, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
