Baseball Recap: George C. Marshall Takes a Loss

George C. Marshall fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Washington-Liberty on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Generals by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Generals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-4 back in March.

George C. Marshall dropped their record down to 5-14 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Washington-Liberty, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. George C. Marshall will welcome McLean at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Highlanders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Statesmen's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Washington-Liberty, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Herndon at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Generals 3.4, the Hornets 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
