Basketball Preview: Chestnut Ridge Lions vs. Bedford Bisons
The Chestnut Ridge Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Bedford Bisons at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Bedford took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Chestnut Ridge, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Chestnut Ridge was fully in charge, breezing past the Bald Eagles 54-21 at home.
Ashlie Weaver was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tabitha Hyde, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Bedford came up short against the Huskies on Monday and fell 63-51. Bedford has not had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Bedford's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Katie Mcdevitt, who scored 18 points, and Rebekah Costal who scored 13 points. Kasey Shuke was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Chestnut Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. As for Bedford, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-15.
Chestnut Ridge beat the Bisons 39-28 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chestnut Ridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
