Football Game Preview: Modesto Panthers vs. Downey Knights + How To Watch

Modesto hasn't had much luck against Downey recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will challenge the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Modesto has given up an average of 28.7 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Modesto is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They lost 50-26 to Enochs on Friday.

Meanwhile, Downey got themselves on the board against Pitman on Friday, but Pitman never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 28-0 win over the Pride. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Pride recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Downey's win came from a few key players Modesto will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elias Haynes, who rushed for 230 yards and one TD while picking up 10.5 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 117.4 rushing yards per game. Another player making a difference was Bryant Mendes, who rushed for 116 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Downey was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 466 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Downey now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Modesto, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Modesto was dealt a bruising 41-7 defeat at the hands of Downey in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
