Baseball Recap: Monroe Area Comes Up Short

Monroe Area came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-3 to the Oconee County Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Purple Hurricanes of the 8-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Monroe Area saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Ashley, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Monroe Area has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season. As for Oconee County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-6.

Monroe Area has already played their next contest (against Heritage), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Oconee County will be paying especially close attention to the Purple Hurricanes' match: after the Purple Hurricanes faces off against the Patriots, they'll take on Oconee County again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
