Soccer Game Preview: La Quinta vs. Xavier Prep

The La Quinta Blackhawks will venture away from home to take on the Xavier Prep Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. La Quinta is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

La Quinta will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Monday, then bounced right back against Rancho Mirage on Wednesday. La Quinta's defense stepped up to hand Rancho Mirage a 5-0 shutout. The Blackhawks' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Xavier Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged Palm Springs out 2-1. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Saints were the better team in the second half.

Lexi Torres and Courtney Brennan scored both of Xavier Prep's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Xavier Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up two goals over those eight matchups. As for La Quinta, their record is now 11-2-3.

La Quinta suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Xavier Prep in their previous matchup on January 15th. Can La Quinta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
