Softball Recap: Cedaredge Has No Trouble Against Gunnison

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Delta, Cedaredge was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Gunnison Cowboys 18-1. This was payback for the Bruins, who suffered a 19-14 loss the last time these two teams met.

Tia Homedew was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meri Hollembeak, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jewel Laliberte was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.

Cedaredge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gunnison only managed five hits.

Cedaredge's record is now 6-2. As for Gunnison, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Cedaredge beat the Cowboys by a score of 17-4 later that day.
