Basketball Recap: West Allegheny Takes a Loss

West Allegheny lost against Moon Area back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The West Allegheny Indians fell to the Moon Area Tigers 53-49. While the Indians didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 16-9 in the first quarter.

Maria Depner was a one-woman wrecking crew for Moon Area as she went 7 for 15 on her way to 25 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Depner a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jaedin Griggs, who posted seven points in addition to six steals and five rebounds.

West Allegheny dropped their record down to 10-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Moon Area, they moved to 11-7 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

West Allegheny has already played their next match (against New Castle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Moon Area has already played their next game, a 58-45 victory against Montour on the 6th.
