Soccer Game Preview: Swainsboro vs. Portal

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Swainsboro face off against Portal at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Swainsboro came into their game last Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 4-0 to Savannah Country Day. While losing is never fun, Swainsboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Savannah Country Day are ranked 14th).

Meanwhile, Portal unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Bulloch Academy, falling 6-1. Portal were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 3-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Blake Shipman, who's now up to ten this season.

Portal's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Swainsboro, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5.
