Baseball Game Preview: Elgin Comets vs. Pleasant Spartans

Elgin is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Pleasant a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Elgin Comets will be playing at home against the Pleasant Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Neither Elgin nor Pleasant posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Elgin fell victim to Mt. Gilead and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Indians, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, Pleasant didn't have quite enough to beat Mohawk on Monday and fell 3-2.

Nehemiah Riddle was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2025.

At the plate, Pleasant saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Hamper, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Pleasant's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Elgin, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

Everything went Elgin's way against Pleasant in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Elgin made off with a 7-1 win. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
