Portage piles up the points against Conemaugh Township

The Portage Mustangs stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past Conemaugh Township 62-31 on the road. Given Portage's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Conemaugh Township is ranked 457th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jenna Burkett was her usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Brooke Bednarksi, who scored 14 points.

Conemaugh Township's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jenna Brenneman, who scored five points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mayce Kordell, who scored eight points along with two steals.

The win (which was Portage's fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Conemaugh Township, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portage will face off against Northern Cambria at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Conemaugh Township, they will head out on the road to square off against United at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
