Preview: Roosevelt Mustangs vs. Corona Panthers

Roosevelt is 10-0 against Corona since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Roosevelt Mustangs will head out on the road to square off against the Corona Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Roosevelt is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Corona in California (Roosevelt is ranked 153rd, while Corona is ranked 361st).
Roosevelt stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Norco 84-44 on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-15.
Meanwhile, Corona's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 79-37 loss at the hands of Centennial. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Corona has suffered against Centennial since May 4, 2021.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gizelle Acosta, who scored ten points along with two steals and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Fia Liaga, who scored 12 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Roosevelt's win bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Corona, their loss dropped their record down to 15-11.
Everything came up roses for Roosevelt against Corona in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 54-25 win. Will Roosevelt repeat their success, or does Corona have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
