Basketball Recap: Loyalton Grizzlies vs. Princeton Eagles
Make it nine blowout wins for the Loyalton Grizzlies this season. They claimed a resounding 55-21 win over Princeton at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Loyalton also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Loyalton's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sophie Holland, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Holland hasn't dropped below 15 points for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Catherine Petterson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Princeton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Mackenzie Wills, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and three steals. Wills has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Guadalupe Espinoza, who scored three points along with three steals.
Loyalton is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Princeton, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Loyalton will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Princeton, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
