Basketball Recap: Kaitlyn Staehr's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Aurora over Seward

Aurora lost against Seward back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Aurora Huskies fell 48-35 to the Seward Bluejays. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Bluejays are ranked 34th).

Aurora's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaitlyn Staehr, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Hailey Hoff, who had eight points and nine rebounds.

Aurora now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Seward, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Aurora will challenge Northwest at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Aurora surely won't give up without a fight. As for Seward, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakeview at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th.
