Baseball Game Preview: Troup County Tigers vs. Sandy Creek Patriots

For the second straight game, Troup County will face off against Sandy Creek. The Tigers will be playing at home against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Troup County has 13 straight wins, Sandy Creek has eight straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Troup County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Sandy Creek with a sharp 19-4 victory on Wednesday. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

For Sandy Creek's part, Cameron Layfield made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Campbell, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Troup County pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sandy Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 5-18-1.
