Baseball Recap: Nutley Comes Up Short

If Nutley was riding high fresh off their 9-0 takedown of Livingston on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders fell just short of the Cedar Grove Panthers by a score of 5-4 on Wednesday. The Raiders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Nutley has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-14 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.83 runs. As for Cedar Grove, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-10.

Nutley and Cedar Grove are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Raiders will face off against Cliffside Park on Wednesday. Nutley's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Cedar Grove, they will take on Glen Ridge on Wednesday.
