Basketball Recap: Centura's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Centura came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 44-30 victory over the St. Paul Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 40-32 last Tuesday.

Centura was led to victory by Taya Taukiuvea and Kennedy Davis. Taukiuvea dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards, while Davis dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Davis also posted five blocks, which is notable because Centura is 6-3 when she posts at least three blocks, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jenna Fanta, who posted three points and eight rebounds.

Centura smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Paul only pulled down nine offensive boards.

When it comes to explaining why St. Paul lost, don't look at Aubree Fitzgerald. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 12 to rack up 14 points and three blocks. The dominant performance gave Fitzgerald a new career-high in points. Zaya Lewis was another key player, putting up three points and eight boards.

Centura now has a winning record of 10-9. As for St. Paul, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Centura wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 34-24 defeat against Central City on the 7th. As for St. Paul, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-36 win against Gibbon on the 7th.
