Soccer Recap: Bishop Amat's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Thursday

Bishop Amat's contest on Thursday was close up to the half, which is when they kicked things up a notch. They never let the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors onto the board and left with a 3-0 victory. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Warriors are ranked 788th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Farrah Carrillo and Jazelin Bernal scored all three of Bishop Amat's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Bishop Amat's win bumped their record up to 13-7-4. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing St. Genevieve the next time they take the pitch. St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy will host St. Genevieve at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Bishop Amat will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
