Softball Game Preview: Ottumwa Bulldogs vs. Lincoln Railsplitters

The Ottumwa Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Lincoln Railsplitters at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Ottumwa's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Lincoln's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Ottumwa's last matchup with Van Meter could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Saturday. Ottumwa lost 8-0 to Van Meter. The defeat was just more heartbreak for Ottumwa who fell 8-6 when the teams previously met back in June of 2023.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Lincoln brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over Lamoni on Friday. The Railsplitters not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since June 19, 2024 (when they won 11-0).

Ottumwa's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Lincoln, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-12.

Ottumwa took their victory against Lincoln in their previous matchup on June 2nd by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
