Baseball Recap: South Gwinnett Comes Up Short

South Gwinnett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grovetown Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 last Monday.

Kam Rayford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, South Gwinnett saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was CJ Peoples, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Peoples snagged this season.

South Gwinnett's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Grovetown, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

While South Gwinnett had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
