Volleyball Recap: Five Straight Road Wins for Manvel

Manvel hadn't done well against Pearland recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mavericks walked away with a 3-1 win over the Oilers. This was payback for the Mavericks, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Manvel was especially dominant in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 14-25, 27-25, 25-11.

Sami Guikema was the offensive standout of the contest as she had 14 digs.

Despite the loss, Pearland still got an impressive performance from Lilyana Ulloa, who had 22 digs.

Manvel pushed their record up to 17-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Pearland, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 15-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Manvel will challenge rival South Houston at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pearland is set to square off against their familiar foe Dawson at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
