Basketball Recap: Johnson County Central Takes a Loss

Johnson County Central has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They came up short against the Elmwood-Murdock Knights on Saturday, falling 59-35. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Thunderbirds of the 63-54 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Brooklyn Mans was her usual excellent self, going 6 for 7 from beyond the arc to rack up 20 points for Elmwood-Murdock. Mans continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Zierott, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Johnson County Central's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Elmwood-Murdock, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

While Johnson County Central had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
