Baseball Game Preview: Mendon Unity Mustangs vs. West Prairie Cyclones

The Mendon Unity Mustangs will face off against the West Prairie Cyclones at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Mendon Unity is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Mendon Unity will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Hamilton/Warsaw on Tuesday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by an 18-11 margin over the Titans. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Carter Rolando was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with eight RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayce Huntley, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mendon Unity kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton/Warsaw only managed seven.

Meanwhile, West Prairie posted their closest victory since May 5, 2025 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Seymour, sneaking past 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cyclones.

West Prairie now has a winning record of 5-4-1. As for Mendon Unity, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
