Softball Preview: Benson Bunnies vs. Westview Wolverines

Benson is 0-3 against Westview since September of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Bunnies are taking a road trip to face off against the Wolverines. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Benson took a 17-run loss the last time they faced off against Burke, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bunnies had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 8-7. The win was some much needed relief for the Bunnies as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, while Westview put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Buena Vista. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Bison with a sharp 14-0 victory. Considering the Wolverines have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Pyper Stortz made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI, one run, and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in October of 2024.

In other batting news, Westview let Elke Martin and Ginny Holtorf run wild. Martin went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Holtorf went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
