Elkhorn came out on top against Standing Bear on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Antlers walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Grizzlies. The win was familiar territory for the Antlers, who have now won three contests in a row.

Lina Aden made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Maddie Mitchell was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 11 matches. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Wragge, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Elkhorn now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Standing Bear, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6.

Looking ahead, Elkhorn will head out to square off against Blair at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Antlers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Standing Bear, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elkhorn North at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Grizzlies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
