Sharyland not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since September 19, 2024 (when they won 50-11). They breezed past the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas to the tune of 40-7. The Rattlers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Javelinas, too.
Calvin Harris was his usual excellent self, rushing for 75 yards and two scores on only eight carries, while also throwing for 125 yards and a pair of TDs. Another player making a difference was Oscar Cantu, who picked up 77 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sharyland's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Esteban Gomez, Jose Luis Vega, and Derik Reyna, who each picked up one sack apiece. Sharyland received some extra help from Luis Mireles, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Sharyland's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Sharyland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 34-33 defeat against Mercedes on the 26th. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they have also already played their next game, a 38-20 loss against Edinburg North on the 26th.
