Football Recap: Mounds View Continues Home Dominance on Friday

It's playoff time, and Mounds View had no trouble coming through when it counted. They walked away with a 31-21 win over the Rogers Royals on Friday. The Mustangs' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Beckham Wheeler went supernova, throwing for 228 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 44 yards. He has become a key player for Mounds View: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 2-4 otherwise. Tanner Jude was another key player, picking up 76 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Mounds View pushed their record up to 5-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.3 points over those games. As for Rogers, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coming up, Mounds View will challenge Lakeville South at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' defense has only allowed 14.7 points per game this season, so the Mustangs' offense will have their work cut out for them. Rogers does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
