Baseball Game Preview: Villa Rica Wildcats vs. South Paulding Spartans

Villa Rica is 1-6 against South Paulding since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the Spartans at 5:55 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Villa Rica comes in on four and South Paulding on nine.

Villa Rica proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 12) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let McEachern get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. The Wildcats' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last four matches.

Meanwhile, South Paulding won against Central on Thursday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over McIntosh. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since March 21st.

Villa Rica pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for South Paulding, their victory bumped their record up to 23-3.

Everything went Villa Rica's way against South Paulding in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as Villa Rica made off with a 6-0 win. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
