Football Recap: St. Michael's Piles Up the Points Against West Las Vegas

St. Michael got themselves on the board against West Las Vegas on Friday, but West Las Vegas never followed suit. They really took it to the Dons for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-0 victory. Fans of the Horsemen have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

St. Michael's got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaiah Dominguez out in front who rushed for 108 yards and one score on only seven carries, and also picked up 66 receiving yards and one touchdown. Another passer making a difference was Kamal Stith, who threw for 114 yards and three TDs.

Another reason for the win was St. Michael's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Ryan Hunt and Don Gorman, who racked up all four sacks between them.

St. Michael's record now sits at 8-0. As for West Las Vegas, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. St. Michael's will take on rival Pojoaque Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Stith and Joshua Gonzales. Meanwhile, West Las Vegas is set to challenge their familiar foe Hope Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
