The Rosemont Wolverines will take on the Sacramento Dragons in a holiday battle at 6:00 p.m. on Monday at. Rosemont will be strutting in after a win while Sacramento will be coming in after a loss.
Sacramento is hoping to do what Valley couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Rosemont's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Rosemont strolled past Valley with points to spare, taking the game 48-34. While the Wolverines didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Rosemont's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Myra Miles, who went 9 of 20 on her way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keilani Takehara, who went 6 of 12 en route to 14 points.
Meanwhile, Sacramento came up short against Pleasant Grove on Tuesday and fell 55-44. The Dragons haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Rosemont will have to keep a close watch on Chrisshaya Haygood and La Ne Dunn, a pair of players who had a big impact on Sacramento's prior game. Haygood dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 boards, while Dunn posted 15 points. The match was Dunn's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rien Osby, who put up seven points and five rebounds.
Sacramento's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Rosemont, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Monday's game: Rosemont has been dynamite from deep this season, having made 41.9% of their three-pointers per game. It's a different story for Sacramento, though, as they've only made 19.8% of their three-pointers this season. Given Rosemont's sizable advantage in that area, Sacramento will need to find a way to close that gap.
Rosemont came up short against Sacramento in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 49-40. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dunn, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 boards. Now that Rosemont knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
