Mt. Carmel had won five straight games and Ariana Gonzalez did her part to make it six on Tuesday. The Mt. Carmel Sundevils walked away with a 48-37 victory over the Valley Center Jaguars thanks to Gonzalez, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 13 points and five steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 23 times she's played.

Taylor Trias was another key player, putting up three points in addition to 11 rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Mt. Carmel's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. As for Valley Center, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season.

Looking ahead, Mt. Carmel will challenge San Marcos at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Carmel is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season. As for Valley Center, they will take on San Pasqual at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Center is facing San Pasqual at the right time seeing as San Pasqual is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
