Basketball Game Preview: Rio Americano Raiders vs. Christian Brothers Falcons

Rio Americano is 0-10 against Christian Brothers since February of 2020 but things could change on Thursday. The Rio Americano Raiders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Christian Brothers Falcons at 7:00 p.m.

Rio Americano is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Inderkum and fell 52-19. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 749th, while the Tigers are ranked 138th).

Meanwhile, Christian Brothers waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They claimed a resounding 67-18 win over the Broncos. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 21 points or more this season.

Christian Brothers' victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points over those games. As for Rio Americano, their loss dropped their record down to 6-18.

Rio Americano took a serious blow against Christian Brothers in their previous meeting back in January, falling 67-26. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Rio Americano was down 40-15.
