Soccer Game Preview: Johnston vs. Valley

The Johnston Dragons will square off against the Valley Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Johnston is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Iowa's top teams: Northwest, who was ranked 15th at the time (Johnston was ranked 11th). Neither the Dragons nor Wolves could gain the upper hand on Tuesday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Valley narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hoover 2-1. The victory continues a trend for Valley in their matchups with Hoover: they've now won five in a row.

Valley's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those eight matchups. With that draw, Johnston's record moves to 8-4-5.

Johnston skirted past Valley 3-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2018. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
