Softball Recap: Vinita Extends Winning Streak to Four

Vinita waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Chelsea Dragons. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 5-2 victory on Friday.

CC Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on 12 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hallie Todd, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. Adlie Speer was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Vinita was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Vinita's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Chelsea, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vinita will face off against Oologah at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chelsea, they will head out to face off against Pawhuska at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
