Newell-Fonda typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Charles City proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Mustangs. The victory was nothing new for the Comets as they're now sitting on three straight.

Charles City's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Newell-Fonda, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.

Charles City has already played their next matchup, a 10-0 defeat against Ankeny Centennial on the 20th. As for Newell-Fonda, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-3 loss against Roosevelt on the 20th.
