Basketball Game Preview: Willows Honkers vs. Pierce Bears

The Willows Honkers will head out on the road to challenge the Pierce Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Willows will head into Tuesday's contest after some sweet revenge against Paradise: Willows lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Paradise, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of 2's game. Willows blew past Paradise, posting a 68-29 win. The Honkers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Karla DiMaggio continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 34 points and seven steals. Her evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Annalise Figueroa, who posted 12 points.

Meanwhile, Pierce and Anderson faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Wednesday. Pierce walked away with a 49-39 victory over Anderson. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Pierce has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Willows, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-9.

Willows came up short against Pierce in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 40-28. Can Willows avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
