Preview: Clarion Area Bobcats vs. Keystone Panthers
Clarion Area has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Keystone Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Clarion Area beat Moniteau 52-47. The win was all the more spectacular given Clarion Area's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while Moniteau is ranked 173rd).
Meanwhile, after only 18 points in their last matchup, Keystone made sure to put some points up on the board against Union on Wednesday. Keystone walked away with a 56-46 win over Union.
Clarion Area pushed their record up to 8-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Keystone, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
Clarion Area and Keystone were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but Clarion Area came up empty-handed after a 31-30 defeat. Can Clarion Area avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
