Baseball Game Preview: Dougherty Trojans vs. Hardaway Hawks

The Dougherty Trojans will challenge the Hardaway Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Dougherty is headed out to face Hardaway after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Dougherty was the clear victors by a 20-3 margin over Sumter County on Tuesday. The Trojans have beaten the Panthers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Dougherty got a massive performance out of Camarien Wimberly, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Wimberly a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Braylen Still, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2.

Dougherty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .815. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .529 that Sumter County posted.

Meanwhile, Hardaway made easy work of Chattahoochee County on Thursday and carried off a 14-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Tristan Jackson was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one triple, and one run. Nick Hudson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-1.

Everything went Dougherty's way against Hardaway when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Dougherty made off with a 15-5 victory. Does Dougherty have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hardaway turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
